Notice of School Board Election

A school district election will be held on May 7, 2024, in all voting precincts in School District #41-2, Harrisburg, South Dakota. If the polls cannot be opened because of bad weather, the election may be postponed one week.

The election polls will be open from seven o’clock a.m. to seven o’clock p.m. central standard time on the day of the election. At the election, the following offices will be voted upon: One (1), three-year term for school board members residing anywhere within the district.

The following candidates have filed petitions for the above vacancy:

  • Jay W. Hutton

Polling Locations

The polling place in each precinct of this district is as follows:

For residents residing in the City of Sioux Falls and Delapre Township, the polling place located at Harrisburg North Middle School, 2201 West 95th Street, Sioux Falls, SD.

And,

For residents residing in the City of Harrisburg, and the following Townships: Springdale, Dayton, LaValley, Lynn, and Perry, the polling place will be the Community Room located at the Liberty Elementary School, 200 Willow Street, Harrisburg, SD.

Absentee Voting is available for anyone until election day, by mail or by coming into Business Office at 200 E Willow Street, Harrisburg between the hours of 8:00-4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Deadline for Voter Registration

Voter registration for the Harrisburg School Board Election to be held on May 7, 2024, will close on April 22, 2024. Failure to register by this date will cause forfeiture of voting rights for this election. If you are in doubt about whether you are registered, check the Voter Information Portal at www.sdsos.gov or call the county auditor at 605-764-2581.

Registration may be completed during regular business hours at the county auditor's office, municipal finance office, secretary of state's office, and those locations which provide driver's licenses, SNAP, TANF, WIC, military recruitment, and assistance to the disabled as provided by the Department of Human Services. You may contact the county auditor to request a mail-in registration form or access a mail-in form at www.sdsos.gov.
