Mark your calendars for our 4th annual Freedom Fun Run on Friday, May 19th! This is our biggest fundraiser, and the money raised helps fund PTO projects for most of the upcoming year! We will kickoff pledging on May 8th and will run our race on May 19th. All are welcome to attend. More information will be posted as we get closer to the event.

A reminder there will be no school Friday, April 28th. 🐾

The School Board Election slated for May 9, 2023 will not take place. The School Board had two vacancies which were filled by the two candidates that filed petitions. Mike Knudson and Linda Heerde will be starting their new 3 year terms in July 2023.

A reminder there will be no school Friday, April 7th or Monday, April 10th. 🐾🌸

2nd graders saved Mr. Muth this week during our HERO challenge! They were “here every day, ready to learn, and on time!” They have earned a gum day. On Tuesday, March 28, Ms. Fox will bring gum around to 2nd grade learners.
Thank you for encouraging your students to be attendance HEROes! Next week we will announce the winners with the best overall attendance percentage. Keep up the HEROic work learners!

The upcoming school year is just around the corner, and we're getting ready! As one of the fastest-growing districts in the state, it is vital we have accurate student numbers so we can staff appropriately and create teacher and student schedules. Avoid future personal reminders from the District by registering now! https://bit.ly/HSDAnnualUpdate

We are approaching end-of-the-year assessments for our learners here at Freedom. Many of these assessments, including state testing in 3rd-5th grade, are completed on the iPad using headphones. Quite a few learners have missing or broken headphones at the moment, so we'll need to get those replaced as soon as possible. If you're wondering which brand I recommend, the Noot K11 and Noot K22 have been reliable and very durable. Both are on sale on Amazon right now. Just please make sure to put a name on them since we have so many of the same kind here at Freedom.

Come to the Harrisburg High School Performing Arts Center on March 23 @ 6:30 PM to hear the Freedom 5th grade students perform!

The Importance of Attendance
Hi parents, please take a moment to watch this 2-minute video about the importance of attendance with your learner.
Research shows that students who miss two or more days of school per month are more likely to fall behind academically and socially. This includes chronic tardiness.
If you would like additional resources or support, please reach out to Ms. Fox: lindsey.fox@k12.sd.us. We are here to support your learner’s success!

Our annual Easter Bash is coming up in a few weeks. This is a huge event for our PTO and we are looking for a few volunteers to help out. Please click on the link and sign up for a time if you're available. Any help is greatly appreciated! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0C48A4AA2AA7F58-easter
Check out the attached flyer for more information. The all-you-can-eat breakfast is new this year, so please come hungry! We'll be posting pictures of the raffle baskets shortly.

A reminder there will be no school on Thursday & Friday, March 16 & 17. 🐾🍀

Just a reminder that tomorrow is our Freedom Movie Night sponsored by our PTO! Feel free to come dressed in pajamas!
Adult supervision is required at all times; learners are not allowed to be dropped off. This is usually a well-attended event, so we need everyone sitting quietly and watching the movie. Running and moving around a lot is a distraction for those that are watching.
We hope you can make it. Details in the flyer.

Come to the Harrisburg High School Performing Arts Center on March 14 @ 6:30 PM to hear the Freedom 3rd grade students perform!

Mr. Knips had a close call with the supercomputer, but you managed to save him just in the nick of time! The grade level that swooped in with the win this week….Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten! You need a rest for your heroic efforts, so Tuesday, March 7th, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten may wear pajamas to school!
Keep an eye on the HERO board to see what kind of trouble Mrs. Husske gets into next week.
Congratulations Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarteners! Awesome job being ‘Here Every day, Ready to learn, and On time!’

We are halfway through The One and Only Ivan here at school. We'd like to celebrate Ivan's love of painting with a Color Day on Monday, March 6th. Please check the flyer for the assigned colors for each grade.

If you're interested in ordering a yearbook, please check out the flyer for more information. Contact Nicole.Husske@k12.sd.us if you have any questions!
