ALL application materials must be completed by this date - student application, online signature process from student and parent/guardian, and submitted to student's school counselor.
Registration Session with HHS Counselors: April 30th at 5pm in the HHS Commons. Please attend with your device.
Dual Credit
Dual credit is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors who meet admissions standards to enroll in public postsecondary institutions in South Dakota and simultaneously earn credits for both their high school diploma and postsecondary degree or certificate.
Through a program approved by the South Dakota Legislature, dual credit coursework is available to high school students in grades 11-12 at the rate of $50.84 per credit. Students are responsible for the $50.84 per-credit cost and any required textbooks or related course materials.
Students can choose from several on-campus, online classes and courses offered at Harrisburg High School. Please contact the college/technical school dual credit coordinator (contact information is located at the bottom of this page) for course advising.
Dual Credit Courses offered at HHS are offered to students for a 50% tuition discount. Students must meet qualification requirements. Students are not guaranteed placement into a specific semester.
Students are responsible for all Tuition & Fees for Online Courses.

Register for Dual Credit
Follow these steps to register for courses offered through South Dakota Board of Regent institutions.
Step 1: Are you eligible?
High school SENIOR eligible to enroll in a high school in South Dakota:
Earn an ACT composite score of 21 reflective of the 50% percentile; or
Rank in the upper one-half of their graduating class; or
Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
High school JUNIOR eligible to enroll in a high school in South Dakota:
Earn an ACT composite score of 24 reflective of the 70% percentile; or
Rank in upper one-third of their graduating class; or
Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
***Students taking a dual credit Math or English class will need to meet additional requirements in order to be eligible to enroll.

By completing the dual credit process, you and your parent/guardian are agreeing to the dual credit expectation and guidelines outlined in this document.
Step 3: Course Offerings
Visit the DOE Dual Credit Dashboard to view course offerings
Students will need to visit with the college/technical school dual credit coordinator for academic advising when selecting coursework (contact information available below). After visiting with the dual credit coordinator and selecting course options relevant to the students expected college major, students should meet with their school counselor to determine best fit with their HHS schedule.
Step 4: Registration Process

**You do not need to follow this process for Dual Credit Anatomy & Physiology or any AP courses.**
Step 5: Confirmation Email
Once registration is complete with the university or technical school, students will receive a confirmation email. Follow directions and deadlines in the confirmation email carefully! Directions will be provided by the college for setting up your email, ordering textbooks, paying for the course, accessing your course, etc.
Step 6: Start the Course
Please note if you are taking a computer course, ensure you know what the technology requirements are needed; Harrisburg does not provide computers for online dual credit courses.
Your final grade will be reported to HHS at the end of the term and will be posted to your transcript.

Dual Credit Transfer Credits
Transferology: nation-wide network designed to help students explore their college transfer options. Students can learn if their courses will transfer by adding coursework, exams, and/or military learning experiences to see how many schools in the Transferology network have matching courses that may be awarded when they transfer. When in doubt, contact the institution/program you intend to enroll in for clarification on transfer credits.
