
Senior Capstone Experience
The senior capstone experience is a graduation requirement of HHS. All seniors will complete a project or experience to showcase their connection with the community, show what they have learned, gain hands-on experiences, or explore career interests. The class of 2026 will have expanded options for completing their senior capstone experience. Read below for two sets of options to choose from.
Option 1: Choose a Senior Project
Credit: 0.5
Final Grade/Transcript
A pass/fail grading scale will be used, and grades will be posted to transcripts at the end of the semester. Any students who have not completed their senior capstone experience will have an “incomplete” grade listed on their transcript until it is finished. Students must earn a passing grade for the senior capstone experience to become a graduate of HHS.
Entrepreneurship: Be Your Own Boss!
Research, develop, and present a comprehensive business plan related to your career interests.
Business Partner Best Practice: Connect with an industry partner mentor to learn more about starting and running your own business.
Investigate ideas for business to provide a product or service
Spend time with business/industry mentor to learn about operating a business
Develop and present a comprehensive business plan proposal
Reflect and analyze the entrepreneurship experience
Connect with the Community! Service-Learning Experience
Research and implement a service-learning project that connects to your career interests and a community need.
Business Partner Best Practice: Connect and collaborate with industry partner mentors to facilitate a project related to a community need and your own career interests.
Plan a service learning project that addresses a community or school need
Collaborate with community/ industry partners to support the project
Evaluate and reflect on project
Show What You Know! Senior Experience
Research, develop, and present a mastery project that connects your learning to your career interests.
Business Partner Best Practice: Connect with industry partner mentors to learn more about your chosen topic.
Create a research component related to chosen senior experience topic
Incorporate an “experience” with the help of a business/industry mentor
Develop a project/product connected to research topic
Create and present experience with a professional portfolio

Proposal forms will be submitted on Canvas and must be confirmed by the senior’s TAP advisor. Senior privileges may be denied for any student who does not turn in a proposal prior to the deadline. More details may be requested by your TAP advisor before confirmation of the senior project.


Documentation Due
Documentation for each senior capstone experience will look different.

Connect with the Community! Service-Learning Experience: research, implementation plan, and reflection paper
Show What You Know! Senior Experience: mastery research project that connects learning to career interests
Documentation will be submitted on Canvas and graded by the TAP advisor. Senior privileges may be denied for any student who does not turn in documentation prior to the deadline. More details may be requested by your TAP advisor.


Visual Presentation Due
The visual presentation will be a summary of the senior capstone experience. The presentation may take the form of any electronic platform. Presentations will be submitted on Canvas, scheduled in TAP, and graded by the TAP advisor.

Option 2: Capstone Courses
These courses fulfill senior capstone requirements.
Credit: 1.0 Credit

Let’s Get to Work! Youth Internship
Participate in a hands-on work experience with one or more industry partners in a field related to your career interests.
Business Partner Best Practice: Connect with one or more industry partners to experience real-world, hands-on experiences related to your career interests.
Arrange and participate in a hands-on internship experience with a community partner
Apply career development skills
Earn to Learn! Youth Apprenticeship
Participate in a hands-on work experience with a Registered Apprenticeship Program sponsor in a field related to your career interests.

Deadlines for Capstone Courses

Required Internship Meeting
Parents and students are required to attend the mandatory internship meeting to participate in internship courses on Monday, May 5th from 6-7 PM in the HHS Aux Gym.

A public poster presentation will serve as the visual presentation and will be held during the internship/apprenticeship celebration at HHS.
