HHS offers an ACT Prep class in the fall and spring. Consider registering if you are planning to take the ACT this year. Participants will meet six times with each class focusing on a different aspect of the test. A full practice test will also be offered. The cost is $75 and includes an ACT Prep Book for each student to keep. Sign up in the Attendance Office, G-Wing room G115. Payment must be made at the time of registration in order to guarantee your seat and prep book. Checks can be made out to Harrisburg High School. As a reminder, this is a Prep Course – signing up for this course does not sign you up for the actual ACT Exam.

ASVAB

The ASVAB will be offered at HHS on October 31, 2024. Listen to the announcements and watch Canvas for more info!

If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, you will need to sign up with Mrs. Thelen.

ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). ASVAB CEP empowers students nationwide to discover their strengths and interests then map out post-secondary plans that work. The ASVAB is also required of all students who plan to enlist in the U.S. military. A student's score in four critical areas -- Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Mathematics Knowledge (see below) -- count towards a student's Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether a student is qualified to enlist in the U.S. military and how qualified he/she is for certain military occupational specialties and Enlistment Bonuses.

PSAT

The PSAT Test is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Harrisburg High School.

If you are interested in taking the PSAT, you will sign up with Ms. Hebig in the fall. You must sign up by September 3. Cost is $20 and must be paid when you sign up.

PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides first-hand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™. It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs. The test is administered in October at HHS during the school day. Usually juniors take the test, but sophomores can elect to take the test too.  There is a fee for the PSAT.
