LID

Horizon Elementary was buzzing with excitement during Learner Interest Day (LID) as students in grades 2–5 stepped outside the traditional classroom to explore future possibilities. This special day gave learners the opportunity to choose from 16 different career fields, allowing them to dive into hands-on, engaging experiences that sparked curiosity and creativity.

From baking and electronics to wood design, building, teaching, and chiropractics, students experienced a career-focused session that brought real-world learning to life. Learners didn’t just hear about these careers—they experienced them. They worked with ingredients, explored tools, problem-solved, created, built, and asked thoughtful questions, all while discovering new interests and talents.

Learner Interest Day empowers students to take ownership of their learning by choosing experiences that excite them. It also helps them begin to see how classroom skills connect to real careers, planting seeds for future goals and dreams at an early age.

We extend a huge thank you to our local businesses and the high school partners who generously shared their time, expertise, and resources. Because of their support, our learners were able to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that they will remember for years to come. LID was a powerful reminder that learning is everywhere—and the possibilities are endless.
