🚧 Minnesota Avenue construction resumed on Monday, April 22nd. 🚧 Please allow extra time to travel to school and be aware of restrictions. For a limited time, traffic coming to the high school from the west will be allowed to turn north onto Minnesota Avenue/SD-115 to Tiger Way until 8:00 am ONLY. After 8am, and for the rest of the day, all traffic to the high school will have to enter and exit through the south onto Willow St and can proceed east or west from there.

HHS Culinary Arts / Prostart students spent the morning at Plum's Cooking Company making spring inspired treats for customers and gaining hands-on real work experience through this CTE partnership.
The NASA South Dakota Space Grant Consortium has selected Mr. Benjamin DeNeui, HHS physics teacher, to participate in its 2019 RET Fellowship Program. Mr. DeNeui will spend eight weeks working under the mentorship of Dr. Drew Alton, Associate Professor of Physics at Augustana University, researching high energy particle physics and dark matter detection.
Only two high school teachers were selected to participate in this program during the summer of 2019, with the focus being application of the research experience back into the high school classroom. Congratulations, Mr. DeNeui – we are #TigerProud!

State student council was held at the SF Convention Center Sunday and Monday. The Harrisburg Student Council had 37 members participate. Sami Farrell was elected Treasurer to the SD State Board, RyleeAnn Andre was elected to the Spirit Point Region Board and LilyAnna Petersen was elected as the School to Region Representative.
The council revived the Outstanding Student Council award and Brookly Charrlin was awarded All State Student Council Member. #TigerProud

The following are TWO important messages from the Harrisburg School District:
🚧 Minnesota Avenue Construction 🚧
Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday April 3rd, construction will begin on SD-115/Minnesota Avenue. Construction will be completed in phases over two years, with the first phase taking place between just south of the Minnesota/Willow St. Intersection north to the Apple Orchard.
No other traffic, other than local traffic, will be able to travel on Minnesota during this time.
For the time being, the contractor will allow our students coming from the west on 110/Willow St. to turn north on to 115/Minnesota Ave. to get to Tiger Way from 7:30 – 8:00am.
After 8am, and for the rest of the day, all traffic will need to enter & exit through the SOUTH of the school (onto Willow St.) and may proceed east or west from there.
Affected bus routes will not change until fall, and further details will be provided at that time. Please encourage students to drive along paved routes.

Barring any further missed school days, the last day of school will now be Thursday, May 23rd due to make up days.

Congrats to all HHS HOSA members that competed at the state competition the last two days! HHS had 24 students advance to the International HOSA Leadership Competition in June in Orlando! And special congratulations to South Dakota’s newly elected HOSA president, HHS’s Lily Petersen!
